Types of Cooking Classes

Basic Cooking Class 1:

Students participate in making all the dishes. This includes making the dough, cutting vegetables, preparing two sabjis, washing the daal, washing the rice, using the pressure cooker to cook the daal, cooking the rice and finally cooking kheer.

Cooking class duration: 3 hours
Level of participation: Fully participatory

Basic Cooking Class 2

Students participate in making all dishes. The class includes preparing some daily dishes – roti/paratha, two sabjis, kadhi, rice (ghee rice, matar pulao or a simple pulao) and rawa sheera.

Students will be expected to making the dough for the rotis/parathas, washing and cooking rice, washing and cutting vegetables, and preparting two sabjis and the kadhi.

Cooking class duration: 3 hours
Level of participation: Fully participatory

Parathas Cooking Class

Types of parathas and pickles prepared:

  1. All in one muli paratha
  2. Aloo-methi paratha
  3. Aloo paratha
  4. Palak-paneer-cauliflower paratha
  5. Paneer-cheese paratha
  6. Theplas
  7. Mixed vegetable paratha
  8. Bajri ki roti
  9. Jawar nachni ki roti
  10. Instant carrot pickle
  11. Instant green chili pickle

Students participate to make the dough and prepare different types of paratha stuffing. Each student rolls out atleast one paratha, cooks them and can take that paratha home.

Indian Fast Food Cooking Class

Students participate in making following items:

  1. Poha
  2. Upma
  3. Sabudana khichadi
  4. Pav wada
  5. Bhel
  6. Green chutney
  7. Garlic chutney
  8. Khajur imli ki chutney
  9. Pani puri ka pani
  10. Samosa
  11. Pav bhaji
  12. Kanda bhajia

Rice Pulao Cooking Class

Students participate in making following items:

  1. Biryani
  2. Palak pulao
  3. Mexican pulao
  4. Tawa pulao
  5. Pineapple Thai pulao
  6. Palak pulao
  7. Raita

Cooking class duration: 3 hours
Level of participation: Partial participation

South Indian Cooking Class

Students participate in making following items:

  1. Idli
  2. Instant rawa idli
  3. Rawa dosa
  4. Dosa
  5. Dosa filling
  6. Red tomato chutney
  7. White chutney
  8. Mysore chutney
  9. Medu wada
  10. Sambhar masala
  11. Dahi wada

Each student will prepare one dosa.

Pizza-Burger-Pasta Cooking Class

Students participate in making following items:

  1. Pizza sauce
  2. Pizza base
  3. Pizza
  4. Burger-cutlet,burger
  5. Coleslaw for burger
  6. Frankie
  7. Finger chips

Punjabi Food Cooking Class

Students participate and learn to make:

  1. Paneer at home
  2. Paneer Makhanwala
  3. Methi matar malai
  4. Dum aloo
  5. White gravy
  6. Malai kofta or Navratan Korma
  7. Red gravy
  8. Palak Paneer
  9. Naan
  10. Dal Makhani

Cooking class duration: 4 hours

Indian-Chinese Cooking Class

Students learn to make:

  1. Fried Rice
  2. Manchurian
  3. Hakka Noodles
  4. Chilli Paneer
  5. Schezwan sauce and Schezwan rice
  6. Chinese Bhel
  7. Manchow soup
  8. Honey noodles with vanilla ice cream

Cakes & Icing Demonstration Class

Students learn to make:

  1. Chocolate cake / Black Forest
  2. Pineapple cake
  3. Brownie
  4. Lemon or pineapple flavoured curd cake with feather icing
  5. Date and walnut cake
  6. Fresh cream icing, chocolate fudge icing, butter icing, and chocolate patterns

Italian Food Demonstration Class

Students learn to make:

  1. Basic tomato sauce

  3. Basic marinara sauce

  8. Brucschetta
  9. Stuffed Potatoes
  10. Layered Pizza Dip– Casear Dip with raw vegetables or bread sticks
  11. Pasta soup

Thai Food Demonstration Class

Students learn to make:

  1. Thai Red Curry Paste and Red Curry
  2. Green Curry Paste – Vegetables in Green Thai curry paste

  8. All dishes will be decorated with home-made Rabdi
